In Khirbat al-Batrawi, an area bordering the city of Zarqa, the Department of Antiquities discovered a 6 thousand year old archaeological city dating back to the Bronze Age.

The head of the Department of Antiquities, Ziad Saad, told AmmanNet, "The discovery of the city is of great archaeological value. The pieces of pottery and minerals found maintained their shape, which was unheard of in previous discoveries."

Saad said the department will study the artifacts at the site and collaborate with the University of Rome in Italy to continue exploring in the region for more artifacts. Some of the artifacts were restored and sent to the National Museum for display.
