Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has ruled out a transfer window swoop for English Premier League playersEmmanuel Adebayor and Didier Drogba, admitting there is "no possibility" of signing either player.

The Portuguese recently stated his desire to secure an additional forward to his squad prior to the August 31 deadline, sparking speculation that one of the African pairing could be in los Blancos’ crosshairs.

However, in an interview with Sky Sports News, Mourinho stated: “I do not think that there is a possibility. The historical dimension of Real Madrid and Manchester City is incomparable, but you can compare the economic dimension.

“Right now, Manchester City is the club that can keep its best players, and buy players nobody expected. I do not think that a year after buying Emmanuel [Adebayor], he is a player that is about to leave. To sign Didier Drogba, it is not possible.”

Mourinho also remarked on the difficulty in competing with Manchester City in terms of signing players, in the wake of Madrid’s apparent interest in full-back Aleksandar Kolarov from Lazio, but the player chose to travel to Eastlands instead.

He claimed: ”If someone wants to compete with them for a player, it is very difficult. If they say they want a player, they get them. I was interested in Kolarov when I came here, but could not compete with them because the prices were at a level that I could not go to.

“If they have money, they can. If you have the ambition to win the English Premier League, you can do it.”
