Palestine State Now, a book by Palestinian journalist and writer Daoud Kuttab, argues for the urgent establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state. It presents this as a necessary step toward ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and achieving a political solution that could help address some of the region’s long-standing crises.

The book was first published in 2024 in five languages, English, Spanish, German, French and Italian. Its English edition was republished in 2025 by Azminah Publishing House in Amman.

At the heart of the book is a call to move beyond diplomatic recognition of a Palestinian state and toward concrete measures that can make statehood a reality on the ground. Kuttab calls on the roughly 159 countries that have recognized Palestine to use their political and diplomatic influence to push for an end to the Israeli occupation and support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to establish an independent state.

The book approaches the Palestinian issue from a different perspective, arguing that recognition should not remain a symbolic diplomatic gesture. Instead, it should be translated into political, legal and international measures capable of advancing the establishment of a sovereign and viable Palestinian state.
