Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has announced that the club want to sign striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Spanish champions Barcelona this summer, but admits that it is not going to be easy.

The former Juventus and Inter striker has been increasingly linked with a move away from Camp Nou after a modest season in Spain in 2009-10. Moreover, with the arrival of Spain international and World Cup winner David Villa from Valencia, there have been doubts on whether the Swedish international can retain his place in the starting line-up.

Although a number of clubs have been named as potential candidates to take the hitman on board, former Italian and European champions Milan have been the most talked about. Earlier this weekend, Rossoneri coach Massimiliano Allegri expressed that Ibrahimovic would be an "important" signing for the club with reports also suggesting that they are prepared to offer Marco Borriello in exchange for the 28-year-old.

Now Milan vice-president Galliani has admitted that they will try to land the talented striker before the close of the transfer window and was reported as saying by Sky Sport 24, "It will be very difficult to sign Ibrahimovic, but we will try."

Ibrahimovic's agent Mino Raiola had earlier denied that his client was going to switch clubs this summer, but Barca coach Pep Guardiola remained tight-lipped on the player's future and also didn't start him against Sevilla in the second-leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Saturday evening.

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi was also asked if Ibrahimovic will be joining Milan, to which he replied curtly: "who knows?!"
