Germany's Schweinsteiger ruled out of Euro 2012 qualifiers
Germany coach Joachim Loew will be without the services of influential midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger when the Nationalelf take on Turkey on October 8 and then Kazakhstan four days later.
A report on the official DFB website reads that the Bayern Munich star has sustained a foot injury and has been ruled out of the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers as a result.
Schweinsteiger picked up the injury during his side's 2-0 league loss against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. The midfielder was able to stay on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, but complained about pain in his right foot after the final whistle.
The 26-year-old underwent further examination on Monday morning and a scan has revealed that he has sustained damage to the tarsal region of his foot.
It's not yet clear whether Loew will call up a replacement for the highly rated midfielder.
