The cabinet reshuffle, which was announced on Saturday and included a program consisting of 11 ministers for restructuring the government, is in violation of the previous program announced by Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit on May 30th.
The new amendment reflected the lack of seriousness of the government in abiding by the draft, which merged the Ministry of Political Development and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs under the name "The Ministry of Parliamentary and Political Affairs."
The amendment was aimed at separating the two ministries and assigning parliamentary affairs to Toufiq Krishan and political development to Moses Maaytah, although the integration process was already in full swing.
The reshuffle introduced many new positions including, "Minister of State for Economic Affairs," and left several vacancies: the Director of Press and Publications Department was replaced with Abdullah Abu Rumman for the media, the post of Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture was taken by Grace Samawi, and the position of Director of the Department of Palestinian Affairs was taken by Wajeeh Azayzeh, who for the first time was appointed by the government and is in charge of social development. The Director of the National Institute for Training was replaced with Mohammad Barakat Al-Zuhair who was appointed for the first time by the government as Minister of State for Economic Affairs, and Tawfiq Krishan who vacated his position in the Senate after his appointment to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.
