Radio Balad gives candidates four minutes to present their programs
The leading community radio station in Amman, Radio al Balad is providing candidates from the capital four minutes on the air to represent their point of view.
Candidates will be able to represent their point of view during a segment entitled "candidate and slogan." The segment will be aired daily during the morning show presented by Abla Roweis.
Jehad Abu Fallah, the station's editor in chief says that the aim of the program is to give the citizens of Amman a direct opportunity to hear the various candidates. "We realize that the public is unaware of the various programs of the candidates and we are hoping that we can help bridge this informational gap so that citizens will be wiser in making their decisions."
Amman citizens will have to choose 25 candidates from among the 165 nominees.
Radio al Balad is also holding a series of debates in Amman and other Jordanian cities. On Saturday a debate for candidates was held in Amman instead of one planned for Zarqa after the governor of the city banned the debate planned to be held at the Zarqa Chamber of Commerce.
Five Amman candidates from the third district will hold a debate on "Freedoms and Foreign policies" at 5:30 to be held at the Hussein Cultural Center.
