International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women
Under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali, join the United Nations, the Jordanian National Commission for Women and the Royal Film Commission in Amman and Zarqa for 2 evenings to end violence against women featuring movie screenings followed by stimulating debates:
strongNovember 23, Amman, at the RFC premises in Jabal Amman/strong: Screening of the internationally acclaimed movie ’Sisters in Law’ followed by a panel debate facilitated by Mahmoud Zawawi, Writer, Journalist and film critic and including JNCW Secretary General H.E. Asma Khader, UNIFEM Deputy Regional Director Ms. Maha al Noami, and Journalist and Writer Ms. Rana al Husseini. The event starts with an opening speech by the UN Resident Coordinator for Jordan Mr. Luc Stevens at 7pm.
strongNovember 25, Zarqa, at King Abdullah Cultural Center/strong: In the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali, a screening of the internationally acclaimed movie ’Sisters in Law’ followed by a panel debate facilitated by Najeh Hassan, Journalist and film critic andincluding JNCW Secretary General H.E. Asma Khader, UNIFEM Regional Director Dr. Dena Assaf, and Journalist and Writer Ms. Rana al Husseini. The event starts at 6pm.
After the movies and the debates the organizing organizations will be available for comments and interviews. Both events will be primarily in Arabic. The movie is in Pigeon English and has Arabic subtitles.

Globally, up to 70 percent of women experience violence in their lifetime. Violence against women takes many forms. Violence against women amp; girls is physical, sexual, psychological and/or economic amp; all forms are unacceptable human rights violations.
