The chairman of Friends of the Earth, engineer Munqeth Mehyar, said that the association will participate in a session of the Commission of Internal Affairs and Environment of the Israeli Parliament Knesset on Tuesday. The session concerns the claim of Palestinian rights, and the refusal of acknowledgement.

In response to several criticisms of the visit by political parties and trade union committees Maher said, "The association has a political agenda along with an environmental agenda aimed at ending the occupation and gaining recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state and the rights of refugees."

The aim of the visit comes under the context of "environmental peace" to find a radical solution for environmental problems in the Middle East, particularly those related to water and sanitation.

The Islamic Action Front Party was criticized for participating in the Knesset session, saying that such activities "normalize."

The Friends of the Earth in the Middle East has been active for over a year to work on environmental issues in coordination between Jordan, Palestine, and Israel.
