6.5% of ballots casted in Jordan’s governorates by 11 AM
According to the Independent Election Commission, 6.5% of ballot in Jordan’s governorates have been cast for the governorate and municipal councils, including the Municipality of Amman, by 11:30AM.
Of the 6.5% reported ballots, 4.07% were cast by men versus 2.43% cast by women.
The division of these percentages by governorates goes as follows: Madaba 9.57%, Zarqa 3.60%, Amman 3.35%, Ajloun 14.17%, Jerash 12.75%, Mafraq 14.48%, Irbid 7.56%, Aqaba 7.27%, Ma’an 18.45%, Tafilah 11.64%, and Kerak 13.61%.
Jordanians began casting their ballots in these elections where 4,599,602 million are registered on the final voter lists.
4646 candidates are competing for seats in set electoral districts, separated into 3801 men and 845 women, according to statements from the Independent Election Commission.
The kingdom is divided into 158 electoral districts at the governorate council level, whereas there are 409 electoral districts split between 100 municipalities. The Municipality of Amman comprises 22 electoral districts.
