12.38% of ballots cast in Jordan’s governorates by 1PM
According to the Independent Election Commission, 12.38% of ballots in Jordan’s governorates have been cast for the governorate and municipal councils elections, including the Municipality of Amman, by 1PM.
Of the 12.38% reported ballots, 7.09% were cast by men versus 5.29% cast by women. As of writing, 569,457 voters have cast their ballots.
The division of these percentages by governorates goes as follows: Madaba 18.76%, Zarqa 6.96%, Balqa 15.94%, Amman 6.32%, Ajloun 26.97%, Jerash 24.15%, Mafraq 27.34%, Irbid 15.12%, Aqaba 13.79%, Ma’an 31.43%, Tafilah 22.10%, and Kerak 25.16%.
Jordanians began casting their ballots in these elections where 4,599,602 million are registered on the final voter lists.
4646 candidates are competing for seats in set electoral districts, separated into 3801 men and 845 women, according to statements from the Independent Election Commission.
The kingdom is divided into 158 electoral districts at the governorate council level, whereas there are 409 electoral districts split between 100 municipalities. The Municipality of Amman comprises 22 electoral districts.
