A study demands amending of election law
A study by the Jordanian National Commission for Women has demanded the government and the civil society organizations to amend the election law to hand the member an executive role, in addition to raising the quota of women to become 50%, plus raising the financial rewards for members.
This study comes under the title of 'Jordanian women in municipality councils'. It is funded by the United Nations Development Fund (UNIFEM) to activate the political role of Jordanian women and to study difficulties facing Jordanian women members of the municipality council.
The most important problems that elevate the inactivity of a woman and affect her decision making, according to the study by researcher Eman Hussein that covered 11 municipalities, are margining woman member by her superior, having her ignorant about council member roles, and the lack of financial resources.
