Saleh Al-Armouti, head of the Islamic Action Front parliamentary bloc, called for a firm Arab and Islamic stance in response to what he described as Israel’s dangerous legislation to execute Palestinian prisoners, urging the declaration of jihad and the severing of all political and diplomatic ties with the Israeli occupation.

Speaking in parliament, Al-Armouti said the legislation constitutes a clear violation of international law, legitimacy, and United Nations resolutions, emphasizing that it entails criminal accountability and that the UN Security Council could refer those responsible to international courts.

He further stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “subject to the International Criminal Court” and wanted for arrest, accusing him of leading “crimes against humanity and genocide.”

Al-Armouti warned that the approval of the prisoner execution law represents a serious escalation, particularly as 17 Jordanian prisoners in Israeli jails could be affected, cautioning against the broader repercussions on all detainees.

He called for decisive Arab action that rises to meet the challenge, demanding the severing of relations with Israel, and criticized the silence of international and regional organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League, as well as human rights and trade union bodies.

Al-Armouti questioned the position of human rights institutions and the UN Human Rights Council, highlighting what he described as a double standard, noting that while these bodies call for the abolition of the death penalty, it is being imposed on Palestinian prisoners without deterrence.

He concluded by stressing that the continued resilience and resistance of the Palestinian people will remain an obstacle to these policies, affirming that such crimes will not succeed in breaking Palestinian resolve or undermining their rights.
