Minister of Education makes announcments via twitter
Minister of Education Walid Maani made a public announcement about the future of a university program using the social networking site, twitter. Maani who is a newcomer on twitter asked visitors to the international sites for ideas as to the best way to improve higher education in Jordan. Journalist Daoud Kuttab responded by suggesting the cancellation of the "moazi" program which allows students who are able to pay more to enter universities even if their grades are low. The Jordanian minister of education responded immediately by agreeing with the idea but suggesting that this will need time because of the debt that universities are experiencing. Below is the exchange via twitter: WalidMaani WalidMaani If you were given the chance, what would you change in the system of our universities? daoudkuttab @WalidMaani I would cancel the Mowazi. No one should pay extra in order to get into university if his or grades are low WalidMaani @daoudkuttab @daoudkuttab I agree with you, however this could not be done before the establishment of the Jordan Student Credit Bank about 10 hours ago via web in reply to daoudkuttab WalidMaani @daoudkuttab The university debt must be paid totally. Once universities reach financial stability (5 yrs) the Mowazi will be abolished. about 10 hours ago via web in reply to daoudkuttab
