900 Jordanian youths participated the Nubader festival

More than 900 Jordanian youths participated Friday in the innovative project Youth Advancement for a Peaceful and Productive Tomorrow (Peace-Pro), hosted the Nubader Youth Festival at Al Hussein Youth City on October 27th, 2017. The program was organized by Mercy Corps and supported by the European Union in partnership with Al-Anwar Women Charity Society, Musa Saket Development Organization, Athar Society for Youth Development and Community Media Network.   Natasha Shawareb, Mercy Corps’ project manager said that the festival brought youth, families and community members, government officials and representatives of international organizations together for a day of interactive activities that were designed around relevant sustainable Development Goals.  “Nubader Festival marks the culmination of Peace Pro’s year-long initiatives in three communities, Rusiafeh, Salt and Ma’an. Over 150 youth lead the design and organization of activities to rally support around a powerful vision of harmony, peace, culture and youth empowerment through slogans and interactive events,” she said.   Musa Khawldeh from Ma’an praised the youth festival. “The diversity of the booths and the presence of volunteers from different governorates added to the cultural richness and made this youth day a unique event.”   Arwa Al-Muaqabla from Amman was impressed with the festival organization. “The youth day is well organized and beautiful. This initiative is to be commended and supporters,” she said.   The Festival began at 11:00 am and ran until 5:00 pm. Activities included an exhibition of community initiatives, Interactive theater, musical performances, debate, sports, art and environmental awareness activities.   This partnership between the European Union and Mercy Corps was inspired by the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who believes in building stronger communities by investing in the power of youth. Peace Pro offers four core components: Psychosocial and Self Expression including the “adventure program”, The Wellness “Awafi” Forum, Community Engagement, and Advocacy Platform, providing youth with expert mentorship, skill-building opportunities, and psycho-social support throughout their most transitional years.
