Journalist Rana Sabbagh said the tragedy is not only that the Gaza Strip needs food and medicine, but that Jordan has stocks of aid and trucks ready to move, while these supplies remain unable to reach the territory.

Sabbagh explained in her remarks that the aid available in Jordan includes quantities of food and medical supplies, and that the trucks are ready to depart. However, restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation on their access prevent them from entering Gaza.

She added that commercial and humanitarian freight movement between Jordan and Gaza had amounted to approximately 350 trucks per week, noting that the suspension of this movement has led to goods accumulating in warehouses, with some of them spoiling, while Gaza’s residents continue to suffer from shortages of food and basic necessities.

### Jordanian Investments to Strengthen Aid Supplies

According to Sabbagh, Jordan had prepared to increase its logistical capacity to deliver aid to Gaza, with international support and recognition, by investing in warehouses, expanding infrastructure, and increasing storage capacity.

She noted that, according to her remarks, the truck fleet had grown from approximately 100 trucks to nearly 3,000, as part of building a broad logistical route serving the Gaza Strip.

But this route, she said, came to a halt when the road was closed to aid shipments.

### Political Pressure and Attempts to Reopen the Route

Sabbagh said Jordan had tried to pressure European and American parties to intervene with Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to allow the resumption of truck deliveries, but these efforts had not achieved the desired results.

She added that one of the latest attempts involved proposing that trucks carrying Jordanian goods be treated as commercial trucks rather than humanitarian aid vehicles, in an effort to overcome restrictions on the entry of supplies.

### Have Aid Supplies Become a Political Card?

Sabbagh believes the most striking contradiction is that Gaza, according to UN assessments she referred to, is supposed to move from a stage of survival to recovery and reconstruction, while essential aid continues to face obstacles preventing it from reaching the territory.

She concluded her remarks by raising the question of whether the crisis is really about a closed crossing or blocked road—or whether the delivery of aid has become another political card in the strained and frozen relations between Jordan and Netanyahu’s government.
