Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Two Jordanians Recruited to Fight with Russian Army Killed
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that, through the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, it is following up on the details regarding the deaths of two Jordanian citizens who were recruited to fight with the Russian army. This follows the Ministry's ongoing monitoring of foreign entities deceiving Jordanian citizens for the purpose of illegal recruitment.
The Ministry also confirmed that it is coordinating with relevant authorities to undertake the necessary efforts to repatriate the remains of the citizens killed as a result of their recruitment. It prayed that God Almighty grants them mercy and inspires their families with patience and solace.
Ambassador Fuad Al-Majali, the Ministry’s official spokesperson, reaffirmed that recruiting Jordanian citizens to fight in foreign armies is a violation of both Jordanian and international law, and significantly endangers the lives of citizens.
Al-Majali stated that the Ministry urges citizens to report any attempts to recruit them into the Russian army. He warned against responding to such attempts due to the risk to their lives and the legal violations they represent.
Furthermore, Al-Majali explained that the Ministry is demanding that the Russian authorities cease the recruitment of Jordanians and terminate the recruitment of any Jordanian citizen previously enlisted in the Russian army. He emphasized that the Ministry will take all available measures to stop this process.
In conclusion, Al-Majali renewed the warning against entities operating via the internet to deceive and recruit Jordanians into a foreign army. He stressed that the Ministry, in coordination with relevant national institutions, continues to track these entities and take the necessary legal and diplomatic actions to halt these practices and protect Jordanian citizens.
