Jordanian newspapers have published several commentaries analyzing King Abdullah II’s speech at the opening of the second ordinary session of the National Assembly. The analyses focused on Jordan’s resilience amid regional crises, the importance of economic and administrative reforms, and the priority of the Palestinian issue. The columnists emphasized the leadership’s role in protecting the nation and its people, advancing national development, and ensuring the stability of state institutions.

In Al-Ghad, Fahd Al-Khitan described the King’s address as “the Jordanian speech” following a devastating two-year war in the region. He noted that Jordan faced one of the most significant humanitarian crises in modern regional history, yet successfully maintained its principles and national interests. Al-Khitan highlighted that Jordan’s stance toward Gaza was political, diplomatic, and humanitarian, and praised the King’s wise and steadfast handling of challenges, emphasizing the importance of trust between leadership, citizens, and security institutions.

In the same context, Maher Abu Teir of Al-Ghad focused on the appointment of Mazen Al-Qadi as Speaker of Parliament, considering it reflective of the current need for parliamentary leadership capable of maintaining balance between deputies and government while managing complex legislative files. He noted that Al-Qadi’s security and parliamentary experience equips him to handle internal parliamentary tensions, factional disputes, and legislative amendments, including those related to social security, early retirement, and the 2025 budget. Abu Teir explained that Al-Qadi’s role comes at a stage requiring precise management of political and legislative risks.

In Al-Dustour, Mohammad Abu Roman highlighted the agenda for the upcoming phase outlined in the King’s speech, noting that it carried clear, multifaceted messages. These included addressing external challenges, particularly the Palestinian issue, supporting Gaza, protecting Jerusalem, and rejecting any infringement on Palestinian rights to establish their state. Abu Roman emphasized that Jordan successfully confronted regional and international pressures, including Israeli measures such as settlement expansion and the Judaization of Jerusalem. In this context, the speech underscored that Jordan will not accept annexation, displacement, or any threat to Palestinian rights.

Abu Roman also drew attention to domestic priorities, stressing that the political, economic, and administrative reform agenda proceeds alongside the enhancement of public services in health and education, building trust between the state and citizens, and strengthening institutions’ capacity to withstand crises. He noted Jordan’s extensive historical and political experience in managing crises and transitions, and emphasized the leadership’s confidence in its citizens and institutions to maintain resilience and stability.

Meanwhile, Sameeh Al-Ma’ayta in Al-Rai emphasized that Jordanians needed to hear the King’s speech, which summarized the past two years and the region’s crises, wars, and conspiracies. Al-Ma’ayta noted that the speech reaffirmed Jordan’s resilience, thanks to citizens’ faith in the state and its military and security institutions. He added that the spirit of challenge conveyed by the King sent a clear message domestically and internationally: those betting on Jordan’s disintegration would face a losing battle. He confirmed that Jordan remained cohesive and continued providing humanitarian support to Palestinians despite external pressures and challenges.
