Jordan MOH closes five clinics after Radio Balad Investigation

The Jordanian ministry of health closed all clinics that use Hyperbaric Oxygen to treat children with autism. This came after the investigative unit at radio al Balad and Ammannet website revealed violations of these children’s clinics who use treatment that is not medically approved.

 

The investigation prepared by Musab Shawbkeh and Hanan Khandakji  documented four different violations of the medical licenses of these centers who used Hyperbaric Oxygen treatment which has not been approved by Jordan’s Food and Drugs Commission. The investigation was supported by Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ).

 

According to the investigation the violations included weak monitoring by the ministry of health and the food & drug commission, as well as the Medical Association. These clinics treat children with unproven methods to the cost of JD 4,000- 10,000 (approximately $5,600-$12,800).

 

In their response to the investigation the Ministry of Health noted that the centers of were not given any license to treat children with autism.

 

Below is a list of the closed centers according to the Ministry of Health:

 

1.  Oxycare on Madina Munawara street in Amman (closure)

2.  Oxylife on Khalidi Street (closure)

3.  Dr. Mohamamd Momani clinic Total Wellness (Suspension of use of oxygen)

4. Specialty Hospital Hyperbaric Oxygen clinic (suspension)
