Depositions begin in Madaba University case in California
Deposition in the case against the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem have begun in connection to the superior court of the California county of St. in the US state of California.
Two representatives from California of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher have testified as well as a representative of the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem.
Lawyers of the Catholic Bishop of Los Angles José Horacio Gómez who is also the President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops have appealed to the court so that he would not have to testify.
A financial representative of the American University of Madaba is also expected to give a deposition. The depositions are aimed at determining whether the California court has jurisdiction or not to look into the $31 million case that Binyamin Seriyani has raised against the Patriarchate in Jerusalem and the Vatican.
