Launching of the “Human Rights Today and Every Day” Event in Zarqa on the Occasion of the 77th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The “Human Rights Today and Every Day” event, organized by the Community Media Network in partnership with the Naya Community Network in Zarqa Governorate and supported by the European Union, was launched in conjunction with the 77th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The event was held at the headquarters of the Naya Community Network, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and featured a series of awareness-raising and interactive activities aimed at promoting human rights values and reinforcing them as a daily practice within the community.
The eighth edition of the event marks the first time the exhibition has moved from the capital, Amman, to the city of Zarqa—an effort to broaden the reach of human rights principles to various groups and regions, and to emphasize that rights are not merely an annual celebratory occasion, but an ongoing, everyday practice.
Dauod Kuttab, journalist and Director General of the Community Media Network, said during his appearance on the news bulletin that the goal of organizing the exhibition is to connect citizens with civil society organizations concerned with the rights of women, children, workers, and others, in order to inform them of their rights and how to claim and defend them. He stressed that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which Jordan adopted in 1948, remains insufficiently known among citizens—an issue the Network is working to address through such interactive events.
Kuttab explained that over the past seven years, the exhibition had been held in Amman, but the time had come to reach other governorates, starting with Zarqa, the second-largest city in Jordan, with plans to expand to the northern and southern governorates in the future.
