Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs spokeswoman Sabah Alrafayi said that seven of the Jordanian prisoners released by the Iraqi authorities will arrive in Jordan next week.

Alrafayi told Ammannet that one of the prisoners, released almost two months ago, had already returned to Jordan.

The Ministry is waiting for release of the second batch, Alrafayi said, which is expected to include twelve prisoners.

On the other hand, Alrafayi confirmed that the Jordanian Embassy and its entire staff in Damascus continue to work without any problems.

Regarding Embassy security in light of the Syrian crisis, she said that the “the appropriate protections are present.”

Alrafayi asked any Jordanians residing in Syria to call the Embassy if in need of help, contact or any other interference.
