Journalist and correspondent Nadia Bilbassy, Washington correspondent for Al Arabiya and Al Hadath, is preparing to publish her new book, From Gaza to the White House, due to be released in early January 2027 by global publishing house HarperCollins.

The book offers a deeply personal account of a long and wide-ranging journalistic and human journey that took Bilbassy across war zones, conflict areas and continents before eventually bringing her to the heart of American politics in Washington.

The story begins in Gaza, where Bilbassy started her journalism career with Agence France-Presse. She later moved to Southeast Asia to cover the war in Sri Lanka, before heading to Africa, where she spent years working in the field as a war correspondent. Her reporting took her to major conflicts and turning points in South Sudan, the Ethiopia-Eritrea war and Rwanda in the aftermath of the genocide. Her journey eventually brought her to South Africa, where she met the late South African leader Nelson Mandela.

The final chapters focus on her years in Washington, where she worked as a foreign correspondent and bureau chief for Al Arabiya and Al Hadath. During that time, she covered successive US administrations, beginning with George W. Bush, followed by Barack Obama, and later Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

The book goes beyond Bilbassy's professional career to explore her personal life as a woman and mother. She reflects on loss, grief, achievement and self-discovery, as well as the experience of moving across four continents with two young children while trying to build a stable family life alongside a demanding career shaped by wars, major events and political upheavals.

Bilbassy says the book carries a particular message for women and young women at the beginning of their careers: success does not start at the top of the ladder. It begins with taking the first step, doing the real work and gaining experience in the field. Progress comes gradually, through patience, perseverance, learning and the ability to rise again after setbacks.

The first edition of From Gaza to the White House is scheduled to be published in English in January 2027, with translations into several languages, including Arabic, expected to follow. Details on when pre-orders will open are expected to be announced soon.
